I'm stoked to say I finished it! I have officially done my first half marathon! I would not have beenable to do it without all the support of my friends, my wonderful Fiancée and my amazing Children (who ran the last 500 metres to cross the finish line with me :)
I have so much to say and so many people to thank I don't even know where to start. Six months ago
I never would have dreamed I could have run 21kms but on the 22nd of May I did just that!
Up to last week I thought that the only people reading my blogs were my friends, family and work
mates who I made to read it each week. But when you're running through Huntly and you have
strangers cheering for you and calling out your name, and when a stranger comes up to thank you
for inspiring her to run the 10kms, then I knew other people were reading my blog too!
Even though Huntly is over I won't stop here. I'm committed to running the New York City Marathon
in November to raise money for Jigsaw, an organisation that works with Child Abuse Victims
(www.jigsaw.org.nz). So look out for me as I continue in my quest!
Thank you all for reading my blogs, for supporting me and big thanks to the staff at Carter Holt
Harvey and the Wellness committee for being there on the day!
My final thanks to my wonderful family, my Fiancée Richard, and my children Emma-rose, Caitlin and
Caleb for not only supporting me but for putting up with me and allowing me the time to train – for
standing on the finish line to cheer me on. You will always inspire me to greatness!
If can do it, anyone can!
Till next year,
Rebekah :)
